Venue Comments

The Arena was opened in the late teens and originally operately solely as an open-air dance venue. In Septemebe 1920, proprietors Messrs Crawford, Armstrong and Wilson decided to incorporate the moving pictures into the nightly entertainment. The venture was not successful and the picture shows ceased in December of the same year. The facility was used as a dance academy until destroyed by fire in 1926 (Parkinson 1995, pp 52-53).
